Black Tie & Blue Jeans Dinner, Benefit and Summer Social held at the Deer Island Stock Ranch has been one of our major fundraisers. Strong community support at this event over the years has helped provide hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships to area students as part of the Chance to Become Scholarship.

The Chance to Become Scholarship Program is aimed at students that might not be eligible for a typical scholarship. In most cases these students are considered to be average students and are generally not catered to by other scholarship programs. They may be students whose families do not have the meant to pay for their continuing education. They might also be students with a special talent or they may have overcome behavioral or personal problems. This program aims to give them the start they need to be successful in life.
